Sheau-Fang Low - Violin

Sheau-Fang LowSheau-Fang Low is an established teacher of violin in Sydney, and currently teaches at Barker College (Hornsby) and her own private studio in Cherrybrook. She has taught at string camps for various public schools in New South Wales, as well as residential string camps in Tasmania. She has performed throughout Sydney with a chamber group, Vivace, and was selected to tour the mid north coast for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She is currently a long standing member with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. Sheau-Fang holds a Bachelor of Music (Violin Performance) and Master of Music (Music Education) degree from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney.

Low's teachers in violin have included Professor Shi-Xiang Zhang, Charmian Gadd, Alice Waten and Semyon Kobets. She has a passionate interest in violin pedagogy, a topic of her Master degree research thesis. She has given presentations on this subject in various workshops and conferences including the International Workshops in Brisbane, Australian Association for Research in Music Education in Melbourne and Newcastle, and Investigating Music Performance Conference in London. Sheau-Fang is one of the founding committee members of the ASA.

With her extensive experience in working with young children in various music learning settings, she hopes to build a junior string section of the ASA where the younger players can be inspired and encouraged to improve their musicianship and their skills in string performance. Sheau-Fang has obtained Certification in Dalcroze Eurhythmics with teachers including Sandra Nash, Karin Greenhead and Joan Pope.
