The
Summer School is the Australian String Academy's first and foremost program. It is an international event and offers the highest calibre of string teaching available to Australia.
The Summer School originally drew inspiration from world-famous schools such as the Meadowmount School of Music in New York State USA, which has produced some of the world's leading soloists, chamber musicians and orchestral players including Joshua Bell, Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman and Australian violinist Dene Olding. The Academy aims to bring unparalleled opportunities to young string players of Australia and abroad, challenging them and inspiring them.
The Academy is very excited to have opened up a new chapter in the Australian music scene. Each year we bring together a distinguished line-up of faculty from Australia and abroad, to inspire and guide many young musicians.
For 15 days, students playing the violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano from around the country and the world are instructed and mentored under

the direction of world class tutors. The day-to-day program includes individual lessons, master classes, lectures, seminars, concerts, solo performance opportunities, and advanced chamber music.
It has demonstratedly developed into Australia's most prestigious summer school for string players, attracting some of the nation's most talented students from the leading institutions. With each Summer School we offer scholarships to talented students based on the audition tapes.
Our next Summer School will be held from 10 - 24 January 2009. If you would like to support this exciting initiative, please visit our
